Accounting Insight 2025: A Celebration of Excellence — A Special Two-Day Event for Trincomalee Campus Accounting Students
The Department of Business and Management Studies, Faculty of Communication and Business Studies, Trincomalee Campus, Eastern University Sri Lanka, successfully organized “Accounting Insight 2025”, a two-day event held on 10 and 11 November 2025, marking the first celebration of International Accounting Day at the campus. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. (Mrs.) L. Sooriyakumaran and Dr. (Mrs.) D. Ravichandran, Head of the Department, with the support of the academic staff.
The event featured sessions on career pathways in accounting by CA Sri Lanka, student presentations, debates on globalization and accounting standards, and activities highlighting ethics and professionalism. The occasion was graced by Prof. T. Sundaresan, Rector of Trincomalee Campus (Chief Guest); Prof. N. Rajeshwaran, Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management (Guest of Honour); Mr. A. Athithanan from CA Sri Lanka; along with deans, heads of departments, and staff. The programme provided students with valuable academic and professional exposure to the accounting discipline.



Skill Expo 2025
A Skill Expo 2025 was successfully held on 03rd of November 2025 at the cafeteria under the Business Skills I subject, organized by the students of the 2022/2023 batch Department of Business & Management Studies, Faculty of Communication & Business Studies, Trincomalee Campus, Eastern University, Sri Lanka. The exhibition aimed to provide a platform for students to demonstrate their practical business knowledge, creativity, and entrepreneurial competencies developed through the course.
A total of 50 stalls were exhibited, showcasing a diverse range of innovative business ideas, products, and services. Students effectively applied their theoretical understanding to practical scenarios, displaying skills in communication, marketing, teamwork, and problem-solving.
The event served as an excellent opportunity for experiential learning, enabling students to gain real-world insights into business operations and customer engagement. It also encouraged collaboration, innovation, and confidence among participants, reflecting the true essence of the Business Skills I curriculum.

































A Day with CIPM: Learning HR in Practice – A Special Session for Trincomalee Campus Undergraduates
The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) organized “A Day with CIPM: Learning HR in Practice,” a special session for final-year students of the BSc Honours in Human Resource Management at the Trincomalee Campus. The event took place on October 3rd, 2025, at CIPM Colombo, with the assistance of Mrs. Anuja Raveenther, Senior Lecturer in Management. A total of 34 students participated in the workshop, which covered several topics related to HR, including:
- Becoming a World-Class HR Professional
- Future-Ready HR: Essential Skills and Career Pathways for Emerging HR Professionals
- From Learner to Leader: LinkedIn Strategies for HR Graduates
- Research Proposal Writing and HR Publications: Best Practices
The resource persons included Mr. G. Weerathunga, Director of Professional and Academic Affairs; Mr. Anushka Earskin, Director of the Business School; Ms. Thilini Kelaniyage, Manager of the Business School; and Ms. Kamani Perera, Manager of Research and Development. This workshop provided immense knowledge of the HR skill set required for graduates and helped students gain valuable insights into the field.






Launch of the Student-Led Library at FCBS
Final year students of 2019/2020 academic batch who are reading Bachelor of Science honors in Management launched a Student-Led Library on 28th April, 2025 at the FCBS study hall with the participation of Head of the department (Department of Business and Management studies), Dean (Faculty of Communication and Business Studies) and lectures. This CSR project done under the course of BMT 4063: Contemporary Issues in Management with the guidanceof Course Lecturer Mr. N. Thevanes. This Project aimed to reduce students’ screen time, promote reading habits, and address the lack of a dedicated library by providing a community-based donate-and-borrow system with resources in Sinhala, Tamil, and English.
During the planning phase, students held group discussions, assigned responsibilities, and collectively raised LKR 15,000 to purchase a custom book rack, stationery, and decorative materials for the library setup. A social media campaign was conducted to encourage book donations, receiving overwhelming support from both university members and external contributors, resulting in a diverse collection of over 160 books.
The library space was creatively enhanced with organized bookshelves, painted walls, motivational quotes, and live plants to create an inviting and intellectually stimulating environment. A unique borrow-after-donate system was implemented, where students could only borrow books upon donating one, with all transactions recorded to promote accountability. A dedicated quality assurance team ensured that the materials and overall setup met academic and aesthetic standards, guaranteeing sustainability and consistency.
Mr. N. Thevanes, the subject lecturer for Contemporary Issues in Management, celebrated the event with a symbolic donation of a book to the student-led library that emphasized the importance of the effort during the project’s official debut.






Workshop on Non Violent Communication
On 4th March 2025, the Department of Languages and Communication Studies at the Faculty of Communication and Business Studies, Trincomalee Campus, Eastern University, Sri Lanka, hosted an engaging *Workshop on Nonviolent Communication*. Held at the Main Auditorium of the FCBS Building, the session took place from 10.00 to 11.00 AM. The workshop was led by the esteemed resource person, Mr and Mrs Paul Schwartzentruiber, who offered invaluable insights into fostering understanding and empathy through nonviolent communication. This event successfully inspired attendees to cultivate meaningful and compassionate dialogue in various facets of life.














Skill Expo 2024
This year, 2021/2022 Batch, Department of Business and Management Studies, Faculty of Communication and Business Studies Trincomalee Campus, Eastern University Sri Lanka successfully hosted Skill Expo’ 24 on 5th of November 2024. This exhibition provided a platform for participants to showcase a diverse range of business-related skills, from entrepreneurship and marketing to financial management and leadership. It brought together professionals, students, and aspiring entrepreneurs, offering a valuable opportunity for networking, learning, and growth.
The exhibition not only highlighted the talents and capabilities of the participants but also created an environment of collaboration and idea exchange. It was an excellent opportunity for individuals to gain exposure, receive feedback, and make connections that could lead to future business opportunities.

Projects undertaken by 19/20 batch- Department of BMS
Ten different projects themed “Green Projects in FCBS new building, Trincomalee Campus” were carried out by the third-year students (2019/2020) of the Department of Business and Management Studies within the Campus premises. The inauguration ceremony was held on the 28th of October 2024 witnessing the Dean, Heads, and other staff of the Department of BMS. The students were grouped into ten and required to do a project under the theme of the subject Project Management (BMT/MMT/HRM/AFM/IMT 3063) to encourage the students to apply the Project Management concepts practically in the real world. Further, the students were tasked to present their projects and submit a report on the applications of the theory they made into practice, both of which were incorporated into their continuous assignments. The projects were initiated and guided by Mrs.G.Jathurika, Course Lecturer, and facilitated by the Department of Business and Management Studies, Trincomalee Campus.

Workshop on curriculum revision for the staff of FCBS
The Faculty Quality Assurance Cell of the Faculty of Communication and Business Studies, in collaboration with the Staff Development Center of Trincomalee Campus, Eastern University, Sri Lanka, organized a workshop on curriculum revision for the faculty staff on October 3, 2024. The workshop was held in the Faculty Boardroom.
The session was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Heads of Departments, and the Academic staff, who actively participated in the proceedings. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. P. Elango, Acting Director of the Centre for Quality Assurance, Eastern University, Sri Lanka.


















Inauguration of the Academic batch 2022/2023 of the Department of Business and Management Studies
Inauguration of the Academic batch 2022/2023 of the Department of Business and Management Studies was held on 22/08/2024 at the Mini Auditorium of the Trincomalee Campus at 10.00 AM.

Projects undertaken by the third-year students (2018/2019) batch –Department of Business Management Studies
Five different projects titled “Aesthetic outdoor classroom”, “Cost effective wooden assignment track”, “Spacious wooden book shelf”, “Trincomalee Campus Map instalment”, “Study hall furniture items made of Waste tyres” were carried out by the third year students (2018/2019) of Department of Business and Management Studies within the Campus premises. The inauguration ceremony was held on 16th of January 2024 witnessing the Rector, Dean, Head and staff of the Department of BMS. The students were grouped into five and required to do a project under the theme “Space Management in Trincomalee Campus” for the subject Project Management to encourage the students to apply the Project Management concepts practically in the real world. The projects were initiated and guided by Mrs.G.Jathurika, Course Lecturer and facilitated by the Department of Business and Management Studies, Trincomalee Campus.
